Ingredients
- 4 steaks
- Frozen chips or homemade chips
- Butter
- 2 garlic cloves
- Rosemary or thyme
- Salt and pepper
- Green beans, broccoli, or salad leaves
Method
- Cook the chips according to the packet instructions, or roast homemade chips until golden and crisp.
- Take the steaks out of the fridge 20 minutes before cooking, then season both sides with salt and pepper.
- Heat a heavy frying pan until hot. Sear the steaks for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until cooked how you like them.
- Add butter, crushed garlic, and rosemary or thyme to the pan. Spoon the butter over the steaks for 1 minute.
- Rest the steaks for 5 minutes while you finish the chips and cook the greens or salad.
- Serve the steak with chips, greens, and the garlic butter from the pan.
Notes
- For thicker steaks, turn the heat down after searing and cook for another few minutes.
- Pepper sauce, bearnaise, or ketchup all work well on the side.
